The sound of Afropop is finding its way in more and more clubs across the country, the voracious reception to Oliver Twist becoming more of a familiar sight with each passing week. We tried hard to reflect this in our latest mix and one of the songs that we felt that reflected this crossover was Zigi’s Amanda. There is not a lot of information about Zigi available, what I can say is that it he is a Ghanaian artist. The song itself features a bridge that interpolates Gaza Slim and Vybz Kartel’s One Man, the dance moves that comes with the song are relatively easy to learn and most importantly it’s really really good.

World Carnival #2
7 months after our first World Carnival mix we are back with the sequel. This mix spans not only our musical influences but represents the sound of our heritage. The music that this generation of diasporas (Trinidad and Nigeria in particular) are making. So we have music from countries as diverse as Ghana, Trinidad, UK, France, Nigeria, Portugal and Germany amongst others. For us combing genres such as Soca, Azonto, House and Tropical Bass is natural and something that we have nurtured through our club night. We wanted to replicate the sounds we know are orignating from carnivals in Port of Spain, Calabar and London. We hope that you enjoy this mix, this is what we believe is our World Carnival.
