After almost two years of the Style & Swagger show being on the air The Large, Why Delila and I (Kazabon) have decided to take a Style & Swagger hiatus due to our work commitments. From monthly recordings at the Reel Rebels studio always accompanied by one of Roti Stop’s famous rotis and some Red Stripes, to dancehall, bashment and soca filled late nights in the NTS studio – we really have had a blast.
We’ve had some fun times being interviewed by Callaby Mag, Mixmag and Time Out and had some amazing guest selectors and MCs on the show Serocee,Tuggawar, Fresharda, Wrongtom, 1TA from Part 2 Style, HDD’s Hootie Who and Murlo. Although we are taking a break from the show for a while, this is not the end – we are by no means stepping away from music. I will still be running things here at HDD with Hootie Who, The Large will still be running all things Shimmy Shimmy related and Why Delia will be writing for United Reggae. I want to say a big thank you to all of you who have listened to and supported the show. If you missed our final show, check out the podcast above – we played some S&S anthems and some of our favourite dancehall covers (some of these are pretty special especially Beenie Man’s cover of this). If you missed any of our past podcasts or are feeling nostalgic for the show check them out on our mixcloud page.
Some of you may remember Wrongtom and Deemas J previewing what they were planning for the Wrongtom meets Deemas J in East London album at Dancehall Jamboree last year. Since then the pair have been working extremely hard to finish the album – which is well worth the wait btw! The first single from the album is Jump + Rock + Move which makes you wanna do exactly what it says on the tin. Grab it here.
Wrongtom, the South London producer who has worked with Roots Manuva, Hard- Fi and others is about to release an album with former Labyrinth resident Deemas J. Their forthcoming LP sees Deemas J return to his early 80’s and 90’s dancehall style with an added touch of his famed junglist style. Wrongtom has travelled the world dj’ing from Southampton to Shanghai and earlier this summer played a storming dancehall set on the roof of the Big Chill house at the Shimmy Shimmy and Physically Fit party. We can’t wait to see what the pair have in store for us at Dancehall Jamboree, if Crime Times is anything to go by, we are definitely in for a treat! Wrongtom and Deemas J will be debuting Crime Times along with some more tracks from the forthcoming Wrongtom meets Deemas J album on November 26th.
If you haven’t heard about the massive dance that we are promoting with Physically Fit, where have you been hiding? November 26th is all about Dancehall Jamboree, a celebration of all things dancehall at The Big Chill House in Kings Cross. Here’s our promo mix featuring some of the djs and mcs who will be joining us on the 26th, give it a listen and get ready to make some noise!

HDD residents Why Delia and The Large are joining forces under their Physically Fit and Shimmy Shimmy guises to bring you an afternoon of dancehall at the Big Chill House roof terrace in Kings Cross. Headlining the event is the legendary Saxon Studio whose members include such greats as Maxi Priest, Tippa Irie and Papa Levi. Check out Papa Levi and Daddy Sandy performing at Notting Hill Carnival in 2009 for a taste of what’s in store.
Also on the bill is MC Mr Williamz who will be joined by past HDD guest Joe Grime on the ones and twos, Wrongtom, Cool Hand Luke and Felix Hall, and of course Style & Swagger. If this line up isnt enough to get your taste buds going, there will also be a BBQ on the roof terrace. For more info visit the facebook event page.
Why Delila and The Large have put this selection together in preparation for the event, their mix features some of the biggest tunes from the artists on the bill. Enjoy!
