HDD’s Top 20 Tunes of 2012
As 2012 comes into its last few days we decided to repeat last year’s near- impossible task of picking our top 20 tunes of the year. Based on the tunes we have been playing out and the tunes we have been listening to at HDD Headquarters, in no particular order, here are our top hip hop, dancehall and tropical tunes of 2012.

Vybz Kartel x Roll ( Feat. Pepita)
Some days you find some hidden gems, even though Kartel has been in jail for a year now (those free vybz hashtags havent effected the legal system yet) this latest collaboration is a reminder of how good he is. In a recent interview with Boomshots Dre Skull (frequent Vybz collaborator) mentioned that he think Kartel might have nailed down the art of making a song due to his immense practice at it. This is a great example, the interplay between the two is great. The lyrics especially on her part aren’t great but it’s telling that all the elements bring this new hit all together. It helps that there are added signature Kartel sound FX.

The latest mix from The Large is perfect and just in time for carnival. Vybz Kartel & Dre Skull x My Crew
The World Boss may be locked up but his music keeps on giving. The Deluxe Edition of Kingston Story was released last week on CD and vinyl by Mixpak in association with Vice, and the latest single from the Dre Skull produced album also gets the Vice treatment with this video for My Crew. The video and tune go hand in hand with Vybz’s street anthem soundtracking images of the Portmore and street life in the Gaza City.
