This Sunday 12th of May central London’s Regent Street will be transformed into a traffic-free street festival celebrating cultures from across the globe. Countries taking part include Argentina, China, Egypt, Great Britain, Turkey and Trinidad and Tobago – you can visit an Argentinian wine bar, watch a Chinese lion dancing performance, learn about Egyptian papyrus illustration, chat to Wallace and Gromit, enjoy the delights of an authentic Turkish coffee shop, or listen to caribbean steel pans.
HDD fam Trini Gladiata will be hosting the Trinidad and Tobago stage which will feature dance workshops, and performances from CSI Steelband, 3Canal, and HDD favourites Jus Now. See you there for a rum cocktail!
We were first introduced to Trini Gladiata (or some of you may know him as MC Prankster) when he mc’d alongside CWD at our October session last year. Since then, he has become part of the HDD family. You can find him with us most night’s hyping the HDD crowd, when he’s not flying around the world, going from carnival to carnival.
To kick off our month of carnival related posts, here are Trini Gladiata’s recommendations for Notting Hill Carnival.
We are still buzzing from Saturday night’s Hipsters Dont Dance; Serocee was a wonderful guest and did not disappoint, his set went from garage to dancehall, and he had the crowd chanting his summer smash Oh Na Na at the close of his set.
Special thanks to our HDD residents Why Delila and Illanja, and to MC Prankster tha Trini Gladiata who had the crowd moving all night. We had the pleasure of creating the soundtrack for some of London’s best movers and shakers on Saturday night, if you don’t believe us, see for yourselves…….
Where else do you get a crowd doing the candy dance at 4am?!
