After almost two years of the Style & Swagger show being on the air The Large, Why Delila and I (Kazabon) have decided to take a Style & Swagger hiatus due to our work commitments. From monthly recordings at the Reel Rebels studio always accompanied by one of Roti Stop’s famous rotis and some Red Stripes, to dancehall, bashment and soca filled late nights in the NTS studio – we really have had a blast.
We’ve had some fun times being interviewed by Callaby Mag, Mixmag and Time Out and had some amazing guest selectors and MCs on the show Serocee,Tuggawar, Fresharda, Wrongtom, 1TA from Part 2 Style, HDD’s Hootie Who and Murlo. Although we are taking a break from the show for a while, this is not the end – we are by no means stepping away from music. I will still be running things here at HDD with Hootie Who, The Large will still be running all things Shimmy Shimmy related and Why Delia will be writing for United Reggae. I want to say a big thank you to all of you who have listened to and supported the show. If you missed our final show, check out the podcast above – we played some S&S anthems and some of our favourite dancehall covers (some of these are pretty special especially Beenie Man’s cover of this). If you missed any of our past podcasts or are feeling nostalgic for the show check them out on our mixcloud page.
On the last Style & Swagger show HDD’s Hootie Who joined Kazabon and The Large in the NTS studio to play a selection of his favourite African Dancehall tunes. The mix features African stars D’banj, Kaakie, Flavour and P- Square amongst others. This one’s not to be slept on!
Style & Swagger aka HDD residents Kazabon, The Large and Why Delila are taking over The Big Chill Bar (just off Brick Lane) this Friday for a night of reggae, dancehall, bashment and soca. This Thursday Riddim Chango and Shimmy Shimmy are bringing something truly special to Dalston venue Hysteria (formerly known as Junction Room). They are hosting a night of Tokyo Dancehall featuring selectors Part 2 Style Sound all the way from Tokyo, Riddim Chango resident 3rd Ball, Neccessary Mayhem’s Mr Williamz and HDD residents Style & Swagger (Kazabon, The Large & Why Delia). Part 2 Style Sound is the top sound in the Tokyo bass music scene who like to throw dancehall, jungle, dub and dubstep into the mix. To get a taste of what’s in store on Thursday night you can listen back to Sunday’s Style & Swagger show which features a guest mix from Part 2 Style Sound selector 1TA. This mix is guaranteed to convince you to get down to Hysteria on Thursday night.
You can check out the latest Style & Swagger show below, the selectors were joined by Wrongtom who chatted about his new project with Deemas J (soon to be released on Tru Thoughts) and played some exclusive tracks from the album. This one is not to be missed!
