After almost two years of the Style & Swagger show being on the air The Large, Why Delila and I (Kazabon) have decided to take a Style & Swagger hiatus due to our work commitments. From monthly recordings at the Reel Rebels studio always accompanied by one of Roti Stop’s famous rotis and some Red Stripes, to dancehall, bashment and soca filled late nights in the NTS studio – we really have had a blast.
We’ve had some fun times being interviewed by Callaby Mag, Mixmag and Time Out and had some amazing guest selectors and MCs on the show Serocee,Tuggawar, Fresharda, Wrongtom, 1TA from Part 2 Style, HDD’s Hootie Who and Murlo. Although we are taking a break from the show for a while, this is not the end – we are by no means stepping away from music. I will still be running things here at HDD with Hootie Who, The Large will still be running all things Shimmy Shimmy related and Why Delia will be writing for United Reggae. I want to say a big thank you to all of you who have listened to and supported the show. If you missed our final show, check out the podcast above – we played some S&S anthems and some of our favourite dancehall covers (some of these are pretty special especially Beenie Man’s cover of this). If you missed any of our past podcasts or are feeling nostalgic for the show check them out on our mixcloud page.
So Murlo has been a busy boy over the past couple of weeks. He hit the promo tour for the release of his EP on Wineyard Records. He joined the Style and Swagger fam (also HDD residents Why Delila, The Large and Kazabon) on NTS last sunday, you can listen to that session above (He went in with a bashy garage set for that particular mix).
He also got featured in XLR8R (one of the biggest music sites in the world) Bubblin’ Up feature, he talks about Shepshed, his beginnings and his love of Wine puns. It’s a great feature on someone who we are very proud of, he deserves the press that he is getting.
He also went on the Pollinate and Steak House radio show a couple of weeks back and did a more standard Murlo set. That intoxicating mix of dancehall, soca, tropical bass and garage classics that he is quickly making a name for. Make sure you check out their show often because it’s one of the best around.
Get to know a little bit more about Kazabon, The Large and Why Delila aka Style and Swagger in this interview they did for Callaby Magazine a few months back. Find out how they got in to dancehall, how they met and formed Style and Swagger, and their thoughts on being Mrs Rodigan.
Style and Swagger’s next show is on Sunday 20th on NTS, with special guest Fresharda who will be giving you a taste of what he has in store for Dancehall Jamboree. Kazabon, The Large and Why Delila are also on the bill for Dancehall Jamboree, in the meantime you can listen to the latest Style and Swagger show below.
Last night Tuggawar came through the #StyleandSwagger show (Monthly dancehall show hosted by HDD residents The Large, Why Delila and Kazabon) and tore up the place. He didn’t have a lot of time but wow he’s got energy for days. You can expect that podcast soon.
One of the songs he performed is from his new song Buss my Gun where Tuggawar goes over the Lil Wayne and Rick Ross beat for John.
Once a month Why Delila, The Large and I (Kazabon) grab some roti and red stripe and head over to Reel Rebels Radio to bring you an hour and a half of bashment, funky bashment, soca and everything in between. Here is our second Style and Swagger show (you can check out the first one here) featuring ‘One to Watch’ section on Max Glazer of Federation Sound, our Bogle tribute and the ‘Soca Selection’
