Machel x Like Ah Boss

It’s no surprise that Machel took the crown for Power Soca in this year’s Soca Monarch, he has been winning it for years cause he’s bloody good at what he does. Like Ah Boss is a pretty good motto to live by, look for bacchanal, live for the carnival and do it like ah boss!

Of course he didnt just bring Like Ah Boss to T&T carnival this year, he also released Endless Wuk, Jump, Pop Ah Bottle, Remedy and Party Done to name but a few. We are feeling this one with Angela Hunte (well Kazabon in particular) — whose name you might recognise from her work with Major Lazer.

Benjai x Phenomenal

Benjai is the second artist to release a video for his cut on Kan Kan riddim (the first being Sekon Sta). This is our favourite riddim by far this soca season and Benjai’s cut is real nice. I (Kazabon) 100% agree with the line “Soca jus give me mi powers, make me jump and fete fi hours” and we have seen what soca does to people in the dance, no doubt this will have people feteing fi hours at T&T carnival.

Mighty Machel

Machel Montano, winner of the Soca Monarch competition

Tomorrow RBMA will release it’s tickets for the annual Major Lazer Carnival party. The party is usually a mixture of RBMA artists and Mad Decent’s crew and this year is no exception as Uk faves Mele, Lil Silva, Raf Riley, Doc Daneeka, Hudson Mohawke dj alongside Mad Decent faves Lunice and Nicky Da B. Sean Paul will hopefully reach back in his catalogue on the day and of course it wouldn’t be an event without the ubiquitous David Rodigan appearance. The most interesting act on the day is Dre Skull and Machel Montano, we have talked about how much we love Dre’s work numerous times but we haven’t talked about Machel.
