Hipsters Don’t Dance 5th Birthday

HDD5_QOH_Web

To celebrate five years of throwing parties in London, we are taking over the Queen of Hoxton for a special birthday bash! We are really excited to have past HDD guests SeroceeSwing TingFamous Eno and Terry Juarez plus resident Illanja joining us for one hell of a celebration.

To help bring the heat, very special guests Funkystepz and Seani B will be bringing everything from reggae to soca to funky bashment to both floors of this Shoreditch hotspot.

In true World Carnival style expect all kinds of dutty dancing, wukking and wining to help us celebrate and to kick start this bank holiday weekend.

Stritcly Riddims No 13 Mixed by Samrai

strictly riddims4
Inspired by dancehall riddims and the recent work of two of our favourite producers Murlo (Quartz EP) and Dubbel Dutch (Self Help Riddim), we have decided to launch the HDD Strictly Riddims mix series focusing on our favourite instrumentals. With this series we hope to increase appreciation for dancehall riddims and instrumentals as we feel that in dancehall the productions and producers don’t often get the props they deserve. The 13th mix in the series is by Samrai from Manchester crew Swing Ting. If you don’t know about Samrai, you should! Not only a great DJ (make sure you see him when you can) but a great producer as well. His mix focuses on well i’ll let him describe it:
“Going for a 12″ version excursions selection ft. 80s computer / digital dancehall into 90s with a few 00s pieces to finish off as I thought they hadn’t been covered as much by the series.”
You can check out all the 12″s here.
You can download the mix here.
