A lot better than there last collab, this is where both of them highlight their own unique styles. Future will that double time flow and R Kelly being well one of the greatest of all time.

Ahead of our collabo event with Yo Mama, this Saturday at Catch Bar, we thought it would be a good time to go through some of our favourite summer anthems.
Fresh Prince & Jazzy Jeff – Summertime
Let’s get the elephant in the room out of the way. The OG is classic the remix is pretty good as well and the third version? Well it was pretty good.
R Kelly – Summer Bunnies
you can’t go wrong with a bit of Kells but when you add some Spinners (the band not the wheel accesories) you get something special. Extra points for having Robert playing basketball and the Rumpshaker-esque clothes that the women are sporting. Also #leatherinthesummer
Shaggy – In The Summertime
A lot of our childhood was spent singing along to Shaggy’s summer anthems, the man has the magic touch but we went with the Mungo Jerry sampling song. You may have also noticed a theme about our choices.
Vybz Kartel – Summertime
Even though it reminds me of Grease and Hi Di Hi the reaction that people have when Kartel croons off key “Pool Party” then the drums drop and next thing you know we are off with one of the biggest dancehall songs of last year.
Carl Thomas – Summer Rain
Carl Thomas is not English, if he was this sexy and sultry song would have been dirge. Instead we get a great R and B track that is one of the most slept on tracks of all time. Some days go by and i have played this on repeat for 2 hours straight.
You all know the classic from The Luniz’s I Got Five On It but did you know that it’s been heavily sampled since it’s release back in 1995. The song itself is instantly recognisable due to it’s sample, Club Nouveau’s Why You Treat Me So Bad. Here are our Top 5 versions.
Puff Daddy and R Kelly – Satisfy You
P Diddy shows his sensitive side with Hook Master R Kelly on the chorus, this was vintage Puff Daddy Rap and Bullshit. How could you not love a video with Diddy and Kells balling in the desert.
Do you remember when you had to wait for MTV’s The Lick or Yo MTV Raps to see the best new videos? We do! Kazabon even had a VHS of the her favourite videos, from a time when Hype Williams was behind nearly every great video and when artists tried to out-do themselves and their peers with the hottest new video. We have decided to dig into the HDD video vault to bring you some of our favourites.
Today’s selection from the HDD video vault is Nivea’s Laundromat. The video for the excellent R Kelly composition features Nick Cannon as Nivea’s cheating boyfriend (we really wish Kells was playing the role). Nivea catches him in the act and instead of giving him a piece of her mind she heads to the laundry-mat to wash that man out of her em…. draws – being Lil Wayne and The Dream’s baby mama we are pretty sure she has had a few trips to the laundromat!
Cue laundromat dance routine with ‘tired‘ washing detergent, trolleys and suds with Nivea rocking a strange heels and sponge bob knee high socks combo.
As 2011 is coming to a close we decided to do the near- impossible task of picking our top 20 tunes of the year. It was extremely difficult to pick our top 20 tunes of the year, here are the tunes that came close but did not quite make the top 20.
R Kelly may be going through his Sam Cooke phase at the moment (nothing wrong with that) but sometimes the Pied Piper of R and B can’t help himself but dabble in a bit of dancehall and reggae. One of our favourite warm up songs is him, Sean (pre Mohawk) Paul and Akon teaming up on Slow Wine (Are you from an Island Girl?). Anyway it’s fair to say that he has previous so we were excited to hear his new song Memories has a one drop tilt and Peter Tosh guitar lick to it. The song is fantastic and captures R Kelly’s genius song writing and melodies. this may be a song about lament but it will have you singing the chorus and the gun shots parts all day.
