Shane Talon x T&T Roadmarch Mix

T&T Independence

Last Friday Trinidad and Tobago celebrated 50 years of Independence. In celebration of the occasion Atlanta based dj Shane Talon put together this mix of the roadmarch tunes of the last 50 years. Roadmarch tunes are the tunes played most during carnival celebrations. This mix is a must for all soca fans and is not to be slept on – it’s a soca history lesson! Tracklist and download link here.

Palancing on the Tube

I wont spoil it much but Carnival 2011 was amazing. Check us all out riding home in style.

Fake Palance

I’m used to fake Hold Yuh’s but Palance? Copyright claims have already been lodged but this latin version is missing something from the now classic soca song. Adding cartoon sounds doesn’t make it original. Also i like to think the big dude changed the dance.

DCAL 2011

Our good friend and HDD MC Pranksta sent us this video of Dcal party in toronto. It looks nuts and something that we definitely have to check out some time.

Murlo Youtubes….

I interviewed Murlo for Mixpak a week ago or so but i had some more questions pertaining to our night (5th March) and here they are.

Any other plans to mix beyonce and soca? Just hinting because we
like that idea?

Hah why not, maybe rihanna could do with a roadmix treatment as well?

Speaking of female vocalist who would you love to work with?

There’s some amazing vocalists i’d like to have on a track, terri walker has an amazing voice, Fay Ann Lyons, Lady Chann and Tifa are some others I respect, also would like to work with Anbuley as well.

Favourite uk tune?

haaaa such a hard question!! ever?! I’ve been listening to a lot of DVA tunes recently, his track with Fatima is incredible. Can’t really pick an all time.

Favourite riddim?
again, very hard decision! Dancehall again is one of my favourite riddims at the moment, of all time Punanny riddim would be up there, so many great adaptations to it, Lt. Stitchie’s “Gangster” has to be my favourite.

Favourite neptunes beat?
On & on! Although “Signs” has to be one of the most played tracks on my itunes.
