This Friday June 30th the Tate Modern opens it’s doors after hours for a night of art and music in association with Uniqlo and NTS. You can find Carla Dal Forno, Gary The Tall and Ma3azef in the Turbine Hall and we will be providing the soundtrack in the Terrace Bar alongside Touching Bass and Ikura Imprint. There will also be a art talks, sound map and a pop up choir on the night, for more details check out the Tate website or the Facebook event page. See you there!
On Monday Night we joined Don’t Watch That’s Tim on his NTS show to run some tunes. After some technical issues we played some carnival heaters and got a party going in the NTS hut. Listen back above.
So Murlo has been a busy boy over the past couple of weeks. He hit the promo tour for the release of his EP on Wineyard Records. He joined the Style and Swagger fam (also HDD residents Why Delila, The Large and Kazabon) on NTS last sunday, you can listen to that session above (He went in with a bashy garage set for that particular mix).
He also got featured in XLR8R (one of the biggest music sites in the world) Bubblin’ Up feature, he talks about Shepshed, his beginnings and his love of Wine puns. It’s a great feature on someone who we are very proud of, he deserves the press that he is getting.
He also went on the Pollinate and Steak House radio show a couple of weeks back and did a more standard Murlo set. That intoxicating mix of dancehall, soca, tropical bass and garage classics that he is quickly making a name for. Make sure you check out their show often because it’s one of the best around.
It has officially been one year since Kazabon, The Large and Why Delila joined forces to bring you Style and Swagger and what an amazing year it has been! Style and Swagger began on Reel Rebels radio, moved to NTS, djed on the same bill as David Rodigan, played to a sea of people at Notting Hill Carnival on the Extra Stout Soundsystem, were interviewed for a feature on Dancehall in Mixmag, recorded an exclusive mix for Mixmag.net and were interviewed by Time Out London all in 2011!
Check out the latest show from the selectors, which features their favourite riddims and dancehall tunes of the year in a two hour Style and Swagger special.
