The deep house cut on the Minaj Lp seems to have got US rappers excited. This particular version is from Bonnie B who is from the Tanboys movement out of NY. First time hearing her but she handles the beat so well.
This mixtape by Nigeria Afro-pop star Victoria Kimani might be my favourite mixtape of the year. Granted Victoria is not going to blow you away with her vocal prowess but what we have here is an excellent combination of great music selection and Victoria changing up her style. On this tape you can find Freaks( see above), Body Party and Lengoma all on the same tape. Also there is some Bob Sinclair lyrics, Banky W, Lynxx and more.

The video for Mavado and Nickis collab is out. The red head who if you don’t look closely resembles a bit like Katy B is off putting. So is Nicki’s patois whilst holding a tiny Trini flag. Also just realised that Mavado’s bridge mimicks DMX’s classic verse on his collab with Aaliyah, Back In One Piece.
Khaled protege and the woman who turned down his marriage proposal (we know it’s fake) team up for this song. There isn’t much to say, its a song that will live and die with it’s video. Like freaks it’s missing something. What i don’t get is Nicki’s heritage is Trini yet always raps in patois when with any carribbean artist. As for Mavado, he isn’t in March Out mode but there is enough catchy stuff in here for somewhat of a hit.
I would say Mario back but this song does’t really lay with him. It’s just a great r and b song with Mario and Minaj on it. Sometimes that’s all you need.
