Jubilee’s album After Hours has become a firm favourite at HDD HQ since its release and we are pretty damn excited to be djing alongside her this Friday night at Birthdays. Also on the bill is HDD favourite Terry Juarez so there’ll be no reason not to Wine Up! More info and tickets here.

This Thursday Murlo is hosting his first Club Shirazz event at Dance Tunnel and we are so excited to be on such a wicked lineup alongside some of our favourite producers Deadboy, Florentino, and of course Murlo himself. There will also be a very special guest on the night who, believe us, you do not want to miss!
You can read what Murlo had to say about the event over at Dummy and he also put together a special spotify playlist (below) to get you warmed up for Thursday.
We love when afrobeats and dancehall artists collaborate and the latest collaboration is a winner. Nigeria’s rising star Patoranking has been added to the remix of Konshens’ cut on Blacklight Riddim. Props to Mixpak for always doing it right!

Whenever we hear that Dre Skull is releasing a dancehall riddim we know we are in for a treat, Smoke Machine, Kling Klang, Loudspeaker are all staples in our sets and Blacklight Riddim was another favourite from the minute we heard it. Dre Skull also has a skill of picking the perfect artists for his riddims, with four cuts from Konshens, QQ, Spice and Tifa all giving it their best, there’s no need for any more.
It’s hard for us to write about this song. Murlo is incredibly talented and the way he works is unlike any other producer. We sometimes get the privilege to listen to sketches occasionally and sometimes we hear stuff fully formed. We have close to 70 songs of his that he has made over the years.
This one is a track that we love, from the initial sketches, to it being fully formed. I remember where I heard it the first time, I remember begging him to play it at raves (if only to somehow try and lift it from him). All the trials and tribulations only add to a song that I hope will be adding to his defining work. A song that we hope connects with people in the same way that other songs do.
