Hipsters Don’t Dance x December

HDD_4TH_BDAY_WEB

For our December session at The Shacklewell Arms we are going to be celebrating our 4th birthday. It’s amazing to think that we made it this far. We have been incredibly lucky to have you guys support us as we try and put on one of the best parties in London. Celebrating that World Carnival sound the right way., this is definitely an event you do not want to miss. People were talking about our 3rd birthday for weeks so expect the same type of madness, you will not want to miss out.

Poirier (Mixpax/ Ninja Tune)
Coming to us all the way from Canada, Poirier is definitely someone we admire. A true pioneer whose production work is fantastic, whether it’s his Running High Lp, the fantastic Soca Road Ep on Mixpak or any other of his amazing work.

Serocee (BBC Radio 1/ Jambrum Records)
Serocee is family. We have to have him play at HDD at least once a year and this year it was only right we have him play in december. That way we could celebrate both our Birthdays at the same time. Serocee is guaranteed to bring the fun, looking back at his past sets they have always been incredibly memorable.

It wouldn’t be a HDD party without the residents Murlo, Illanja, Kazabon & Hootie Who who will bring you the best in the World Carnival Sound. Whine and Kotch, Bruk It Down, Azonto are all songs/dances that are not only encouraged but guaranteed. So come on down to the Shacklewell and get lost in this carnival fun.

The Bogle, Dutty Whine and Row Di Boat are not only encouraged but guaranteed.
Fête Hard or Go Home!

£5 before 12am / £7 after

Kazabon & Hootie Who At Palm City Social

This Friday night we will be joining the Palm City Social guys at Catch Bar for some carnival madness. It’s an absolute pleasure to be asked to play alongside Moroka and Vamanos. You can check out the facebook event here.

Sneakbo x Trust No Body

It’s been a while since we have posted a Sneakbo tune. He’s been navigating the pop charts with songs that haven’t really interested us. This new one by him caught out attention since it’s produced by dancehall producer Rvssian. The man the brought us Straight Jeans and Fitted has teamed up with Sneakbo who made his name adding verses to bashment classics. I guess this is an example of cutting out the middle man. This song adds to the current paranoia trend that we are seeing in hip hop and to a certain extent popular culture.

We put out the first 20 mins of our set at Tipsy from earlier in the month on our mixcloud, we would have had more but we ran out of space on the SD card (rookie mistake). It is exactly what you can expect from us; incredible World Carnival music. Strictly Riddims No 2 Mixed by Hootie Who

Inspired by dancehall riddims and the recent work of two of our favourite producers Murlo and Dubbel Dutch, we have decided to launch the HDD Strictly Riddims mix series focusing on our favourite instrumentals. With this series we hope to increase appreciation for dancehall riddims and instrumentals as we feel that in dancehall the productions and producers don’t often get the props they deserve. The second mix in the series is from HDD’s Hootie Who mixing his favourite riddims. Who needs vocals!
