Something must have clicked in the Uk music scene and everyone has decided to embrace what makes them them. So we get stuff like Lean and Bop and this track Dem Man Dere, which is a mix of road rap boasts, a dancehall synth and afropop patter. It is London 2015. Will definitely be checking for more from Kaniva and we think this could potentially heat up Carnival.
Last week we had the pleasure of being guests on Arise Tv’s Showbiz Weekly. Watch us chat about our beginnings, our Nigerian and Trinidad heritages and more.
I can’t for the life of me remember the name of the riddim that they use for this but good to see Naira back again. He kind of exists by himself which is great because he can’t be tailored to do certain things yet. A lot of artists that have been picked up by the labels have had their edge sheered off.
London’s best night for all things Dancehall, Soca, Afrobeats and more is back at the Shackelwell Arms. You can find us in the back room recreating the feeling of Carnival in the middle of Dalston. Rum, Batty Riders, Flags and more in our own World Carnival dance.
Music on the night from residents Murlo, Kazabon and Hootie Who will make you Bruk it Down, Azonto, Atigi, Moggela, Bogle and Dutty Whine. Fete Hard or Go Home! Entry is £3 before 12am and £5 afterwards more info on our Facebook Event Page.
