It’s that time of the month again but while Kazabon & Hootie Who are gone fishing HDD resident Illanja is stepping in for a HDD House Party Takeover. Join Illanja at The Libertine Pub in Borough Saturday 15th of February for the best house party in the whole of London. Some of you will know Illanja from his sets at Hipsters Don’t Dance at the Shacklewell and other HDD events. His selections are always on point and are sure to get your weekend kicked off correctly whether you are catching up with friends over pizza and drinks or getting ready for a night of raving and misbehaving! Some guests may pass through too.
Famous Eno will be cooking up some of his famous buffalo wings on the night too, trust us they are the best wings in London! More info here.
Tired of hibernating after the excess of the end of the year? Why not come and dance away those winter blues with us? London’s best night for all things Dancehall, Soca, Afrobeats and more is back at the Shackelwell Arms this Saturday February 1st. You can find us in the back room of the Shacklewell recreating the feeling of Carnival in the middle of Dalston, so expect rum, rags, and flags!
Music on the night from residents Murlo, Illanja, and Kazabon and Hootie Who will make you Bruk it Down, Azonto, Atigi, Moggela, Bogle and Dutty Whine. Fete Hard or Go Home! Entry is £3 before 12am and £5 afterwards more info on our Facebook Event Page. We’re ready like this month’s poster star Bunji…..are you?!

Last Saturday we celebrated four years of HDD with Serocee and Poirier as our guests and the vibe was so right as you can see from Egle Trezzi’s photos above . Unfortunately we didn’t manage to capture the magic of the b2b2b2b2b between Serocee, Poirier, Kazabon, Hootie Who and Murlo at the end of the night but if you were there you know it was pretty special. Thanks again to everyone who partied with us.

For our December session at The Shacklewell Arms we are going to be celebrating our 4th birthday. It’s amazing to think that we made it this far. We have been incredibly lucky to have you guys support us as we try and put on one of the best parties in London. Celebrating that World Carnival sound the right way., this is definitely an event you do not want to miss. People were talking about our 3rd birthday for weeks so expect the same type of madness, you will not want to miss out.
Poirier (Mixpax/ Ninja Tune)
Coming to us all the way from Canada, Poirier is definitely someone we admire. A true pioneer whose production work is fantastic, whether it’s his Running High Lp, the fantastic Soca Road Ep on Mixpak or any other of his amazing work.
Serocee (BBC Radio 1/ Jambrum Records)
Serocee is family. We have to have him play at HDD at least once a year and this year it was only right we have him play in december. That way we could celebrate both our Birthdays at the same time. Serocee is guaranteed to bring the fun, looking back at his past sets they have always been incredibly memorable.
It wouldn’t be a HDD party without the residents Murlo, Illanja, Kazabon & Hootie Who who will bring you the best in the World Carnival Sound. Whine and Kotch, Bruk It Down, Azonto are all songs/dances that are not only encouraged but guaranteed. So come on down to the Shacklewell and get lost in this carnival fun.
The Bogle, Dutty Whine and Row Di Boat are not only encouraged but guaranteed.
Fête Hard or Go Home!
£5 before 12am / £7 after
You can find the event here.

Over the past few years in dancehall we have seen the evolution of certain stars. Cham may have dropped the baby a while ago but he is now a fully fledged star. QQ removed those child star constraints to become a slackness don. RDX came back from the wilderness to teach us all how to Kotch. This month at HDD we continue the theme of evolution as HDD resident The Large prepares to jet off to NY.
The Large first played at HDD back in October 2010 and later became one of our residents, any of you that have been to our parties know that she always mashes up the dance! Like a lot of great talents, the bright lights of NYC came calling and she answered. This isn’t going to be her last time at HDD, as she will always be a member of the family but you don’t want to miss out on this set as it will be a special one.
Also on the night Murlo, Illanja, Kazabon and Hootie Who will be bringing you that HDD Carnival sound. Whine and Kotch, Bruk It Down, Azonto are all songs/dances that are not only encouraged but guaranteed. So come on down to the Shacklewell this Saturday and get lost in this carnival fun. To make things even more tropical The Shacklewell are offering two cocktails for £8 for HDD Happy Hour between 11pm and 1am. More details and directions on our Facebook event page.
