8 Bar meets Hip Hop in this great new collaboration by Tomb Crew and Illaman. It’s got a wonderful old school vibe which fits both of their sensibilities. This is taken from the Twice Baked Ep which will be out on December 21st, make sure you ask mum for it as your xmas present.

We are back at the Shacklewell Arms this Saturday and are joined by our good friends Tomb Crew and Illaman (both of whom were great when we had them last year) on the night. If you missed out on the last event at the Shacklewell you really missed out. The venue is perfect for our main party. It’s the start of our monthly residency there. You can save yourself some money by emailing email@example.com to get on the £3 list. You can check out Illanja’s set from last Friday here or the sets from our last Shacklewell event here.
Saturday’s HDD was an eventful one! We had February snowfall which caused an hour long power cut at The Camp, but that didn’t stop us from having a HDD party. Effect Mode and Illaman gave us one hell of a performance playing tracks from their new project.
Illaman also treated us to a freestyle using the words South London, orange and nipple tassels, as suggested by the crowd. Watch out for big things from Effect Mode in 2012, the new project truly is UK hip hop at its finest!
HDD House Party, the first in a series of Podcasts from Hipsters Dont Dance has finally landed. Our first ever one is the Hip Hop edition. We are joined by Jamie from Effect Mode and Nick from Yo Mama for a chat and a live guest mix from each of them. Jamie’s Mix highlights the Boom Bap sound that influenced his new hip hop project Effect Mode mixed with some of the new stuff that he is into as well as some exclusive Effect Mode tracks, whilst Nick’s mix highlights the different faces of the successful monthly club night Yo Mama. Hosts Kazabon and Hootie Who explore the hip hop that influenced them, whether it be the soulful stuff or the Ragga Hip Hop sub genre respectively.
Catch Effect Mode at Hipsters Dont Dance February Session this Saturday to hear tracks from the project performed live for the very first time!
In keeping with the tradition of that era, you may be hearing some hiss and pops in the recordings. Just imagine you shoved a tape into your laptop.
Welcome to the third post in the HDD Rep Your Creps series, where it’s all about the creps/kicks/trainers/runners/sneakers that our favourite DJs and artists are rocking. This time around trainer heads Effect Mode and Illaman take some time out from their busy schedules to share their choices with us. As you can see from the pics above their taste in kicks is exsquisite (Above: Effect Mode aka Jamie Tomb Crew from the Mishka fall 2011 lookbook and Illaman from the Mixmag fashion feature on DJs and trainers).
We are really looking forward to Effect Mode and Illaman joining us at Hipsters Dont Dance February Session where they will performing tracks from the Effect Mode project live for the very first time.
Ladies and Gentlemen we are back! On the 4th of February we are back at The Camp for some more tropical bacchanalian madness. This time we are joined by Effect Mode and Illaman. The guys will be doing a live performance on the night as well as a hip hop tinged set. For a slight hint of the madness that it will be on the night check out prolific twitterer and badman MC Illaman’s (and Micall Parknsun) freestyle over an Effect Mode beat.
Look out next week as we will have something special in store that we just cooked up with Effect Mode and Nick from Yo Mama.
Also on the night will be Why Delila, Illanja and Kazabon & Hootie Who bringing you the best in Hip Hop, tropical and dancehall. You don’t want to miss out on this as we will be going even harder this year than last.
