What’s that? The sound of bass, bottles clinking on the floor and beautiful music surrounding you? Adult xmas aka Carnival is around the corner and for the second year running we are putting on a World Carnival Party.
After the success of last year’s HDD World Carnival party we (Kazabon and Hootie Who) have decided to throw another one, this time at the Old Blue Last. After last year’s affair with some of the leading international names in the scene (Dre Skull, So Shifty and Schlachthofbronx) we are focusing on some of the Uk’s emerging talents.
Moroka and Samrai will be joining us for another party celebrating the inclusive sound of all of carnival. From the Soca Floats, to the Dancehall and Reggae soundsystems to Nigeria Corner and more. Moroka is known for his SA dance sets and has worked the likes of The Very Best, Yadi and much more. Samrai is part of Manchester DJ and production team Swing Ting who have been profiled in Fact Magazine recently. We are excited to have two of the Uk’s leading up and comers on the bill with us.
Also on the night we will have HDD regulars The Large, Illanja, Kazabon and Hootie Who bringing you the best in dancehall, soca and afropop. You can check out what last year’s party was like here.
We will also be doing some giveaways, including the 2013 HDD Carnival pack, on the night. You can check out the facebook event here.

In the words of Arrow, feeling HOT HOT HOT! Although Hipsters Dont Dance is a rave that celebrates dancehall, soca and afrobeats year round, this might be the best time of year to do so. Treat this party as your Carnival warm up! After last month’s sweaty, sexy and bacchanal affair with NY’s Jasmine Solano, we are back at the Shacklewell Arms. On the night we will have Murlo, The Large and of course us (Kazabon and Hootie Who ). All of whom can make sure you practise your Dutty Whine before you attempt it on a (consenting) stranger at carnival at the end of August.
Murlo (Mixpax/ UTTU)
It’s been a busy month for Murlo, so busy that we have dubbed it the month of Murlo. He has many releases coming out this month (the Southern Hospitality one is out now). His songs got played on 1 Xtra and he was featured in Fact Magazine and Dummy Mag. It seems like the world is catching up to the fact that he is one of the most talented producers and DJ’s around.
Another busy month for Shimmy Shimmy head honcho The Large. She played respected night House of Trax alongside grime legend Spooky. Her last set at the Shacklewell is one for the ages; sing alongs, whining, flag waving, whistles and hands in the air. It really had it all.
Kazabon and Hootie Who
If you don’t already know, we are the DJs behind the HDD club night and World Carnival sound (watch out for the 5th mix in the World Carnival series coming soon). So whether you want to dance azonto, atigi, moggela, whine and/or kotch, we got you covered!
If you are not already convinced that it will be a good party here is what Time Out London had to say about our events:
This excellent dancehall party is as refreshing as a cold Red Stripe in the middle of Carnival
Entry is £3 before 12am and £5 afterwards, more info on the Facebook Event Page PS.Since it’s so nice, Shacklewell Arms are offering a Shot and Free entry before 10pm.
We are back at the Shacklewell Arms this Saturday and are joined by our good friends Tomb Crew and Illaman (both of whom were great when we had them last year) on the night. If you missed out on the last event at the Shacklewell you really missed out. The venue is perfect for our main party. It’s the start of our monthly residency there. You can save yourself some money by emailing email@example.com to get on the £3 list. You can check out Illanja’s set from last Friday here or the sets from our last Shacklewell event here.
After the success of our debut event at the Lockside Lounge, Hipsters Dont Dance On A Ragga Tip is back for another night of World Carnival fun. This time we are joined by producer and HDD favourite Famous Eno. Fresh from his storming set on London’s important Just Jam, Famous Eno will be bringing us his take on Grime, Bashment and more. Of course we will have our Residents Murlo, The Large, Illanja and Kazabon & Hootie Who on the decks bringing you the best in Hip Hop, Tropical and Dancehall. Don’t forget our motto is Fete Hard or Go Home! Get ready to wuk and wine by pumping our latest mix (below) through your speakers.
Visit our Facebook Event Page for more info. Email firstname.lastname@example.org with ‘cheaplist’ as the subject to be added to the £3 list (this guarantees you £3 entry all night). List closes at midday on Friday 24th.
