Davido x Fall

Davido’s latest sees him interpolating Kojo Funds’ Dun Talkin. Interesting to see afropop being influenced by the UK scene that it has been influencing for a while now.

Davido x Dodo

You gotta love it when an artist decides to dress in 70’s gear and film a video. We are fairly sure it has never gone wrong. Davido channels his inner high life singer and films a video for Dodo.

Kcee x Ogaranya feat Davido

Kcee and Davido team up for Ogaranya and the video is one of the most vibrant afropop videos out at the moment. Directed by Godfather (who is behind a lot of D’banj videos) the video sees the pair stunting in their best trad attire complete with Nigerian coral. Keep your eyes peeled for the shot with the doves!

Sarkodie x Gunshot (Feat. Davido)

The far and away leader for song of the Christmas gets it’s big budget video. Ghana and Nigeria on one track, expect it to be played on 1xtra a lot.

Davido x Ekuro

I’m not entirely posting this song because of how good it is but more to make a point about the Nigerian music industry. We Major! When stars are going to the states to actually film their videos it’s a big move, this isn’t the first to be honest. One of the biggest problems that the industry faces when trying to expand internationally is the assumption some people have to Africa in general. So by having the videos set in America the viewer will actually give it more time. Sadly for some unless Africa is fetishised it won’t get through the door.

The best Davido song is Dami Duro though.

Tunde Ednut x Jingle Bell

As we gear up to xmas time it’s only natural that people start thinking of xmas tunes. You know Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, Phil Spector’s christmas lp (the best xmas lp ever) songs that all evoke cold, snow and chestnuts on an open fire. But what about Nigeria, over there it’s mid summer. It’s 35c and the unrelenting heat means that you are at the mercy of air conditioning, hardly the time to be singing Let It Snow. So step forward Tunde Ednut with a host of Nigeria’s best MC’s Ice Prince, JJC, Lynxxx and Davido to crate a fast paced almost soca Christmas song. The video is what christmas is like in Naij, booze, sun and sea.
