Leriq x Say You Love Me (featuring Wizkid)

Leriq is the producer behind some of Burna Boy’s biggest hits (Yawa Dey, Abeg Abeg Abeg) and since they parted ways we fell that Burna Boy’s tunes just haven’t been the same. It’s nice to hear Leriq working with another HDD favourite Wizkid for Say You love Me which will feature on Leriq’s album “The Lost Sounds” which is set for release in the near future. Congrats to leriq on signing with Sony Music Entertainment Africa recently too. Out to Samrai for putting us on to this one.

Burna Boy x Yawa Dey

One of our favourite artists (that’s everyone in the crew) is back with his last single before he releases his LP next week. Yawa Dey is bumpy fun afrobeats, something that would fit alongside groovy soca and early 90’s house. Burna Boy, Leriq and Aristokrat’s team all deserve props because this might be a perfectly executed LP plan for an Afrobeats artist.

We say this because usually you wait till January or February to take advantage of Africa’s own version of soca season. By releasing it now, it will give people time to ride with it (in Nigeria you end up buying 3 copies because your friends will steal the cd when you aren’t looking). This could be our LP of the summer.

Pucado x Bigger Better Best

More music out of the Burna Boy/ Aristokrat Records/ Leriq camp this time from Pucado. Bigger Better Best is an interesting take on the rap trope of wanting to be the best. The Leriq beat is captivating in the sense that he really went in with an odd drum pattern that reflects his African roots but with a dark synth which is all the rage in hip hop (Hold tight the Clams Casino and Main Attraktionz). It’s definitely interesting and in the same way that Like to Party was different this is definitely another hit for the Aristokrat Camp. You can check out Pucado’s last single Naija soca above.
