The Large of Shimmy Shimmy and Al Fingers have been working extremely hard to bring us Art in The Dancehall, and we are really excited to see the fruits of their labour tonight at the London launch at Puma Yard. The exhibition recently spent a few weeks in Birmingham where it was well received but we are really excited to see it reach London. The exhibition focuses on Jamaican music art and illustration from the 1980s to the present day and features the work of Tony Mc Dermott (who created the artwork for Roots Manuva & Wrongtom’s Duppy Writer & Gregory Isaac’s Midnight Confidential) , HDD favourite Limonius and new school artist Robin Clare amongst others. Unfortunately tickets for the launch are sold out but if you are at Puma Yard between now and August 12th be sure to check it out.

This Saturday three of London’s tuffest crews Shimmy Shimmy, Tighten Up and Extra Classic will be going head to head in a 45 clash at the Silver Bullet in Finsbury Park. Guaranteed to be a fun night, the video below says it all but you can also check out the facebook event page. We will of course be bringing along our whistles and saucepan lids and any other fwd instruments we can find to support the The Large, Illanja and Serocee who will be holding it down for Shimmy Shimmy.
