Q&A With Joe Grime & Fresharda

Joe Grime past HDD guest, host of the Bashment Show on Deja Vu Fm, and all round badman selector has been cooking up some serious surprises with Fresharda for Dancehall Jamboree. Fresharda is a UK MC to watch out for, his version My Queen on Perfect Harmony Riddim is a HDD favourite and was featured on our Dancehall Jamboree mix. After seeing Joe and Fresharda mash up Just Jam a few months back we can’t wait to see the pair in action on Saturday. We get to know a little bit more about their musical inspiration in this quick Q&A.

What are you most looking forward to at dancehall jamboree?
Fresharda: I’m looking forward to spreading the big & bashy vibes with the ravers and singing some new songs to the people in a real dancehall style.

Joe Grime: Me and Fresharda setting Big Chill on Fire! We’ve been cooking something up & it’s smelling good! I’m also looking forward to some big sets from everyone!

What is the track that sums you up?

Fresharda : Untold stories by Buju Banton. The social commentary is a remarkable reflection of reality on the streets. The song carries a message of hope and giving thanks for life no matter the circumstance. That sums me up…”giving thanks is a must”.

Joe Grime : Colonel Mite & Frighty – Life.  Big sing-a-long fun!

What are your top 5 dancehall tracks of all time?

Fresharda: These are in no particular order and was brain taxing to give only 5 but they are:
Buju Banton- Batty Rider

Bounty Killer – Anytime

Baby Cham – Ghetto Story

Busy Signal- Not Going Down

Fresharda – Cycle (listen on the last Style & Swagger show)

Joe Grime :  Hard one, changes like the many moods ofJoe, but these would defo be up there

Supercat – Don Dada

Tenor Saw – Lots of Signs

Beenie Man – Slam

Vybz Kartel – Proper English

Singing Sweet – When I See You Smile (always wanted a dub that said “when i hear Joe Grime” lol)
