Victoria Kimani x Mtoto

Mtoto has been a staple on dancefloors across Africa, especially in Kenya and now it gets a video. Filmed in LA, Victoria even squeezes in a little Goldfinger homage, the song is produced by Chopstix and out on the Chocolate City label. This afro pop song rides it’s simplistic but infectious vibes, you can tell the influence of SA house in there as well.

Trinidad James x Females Welcomed

The second best song off the mixtape gets a video by the legend that is Jonathan Mannion (All those DMX covers you love and plenty more iconic work). Mannion’s trips to Trinidad pay off to create another signature James video. all the naysayers who got made when Def Jam signed him might want to rethink those thoughts. James is here to stay and as an artist that throws back to his Trinidad roots often we will support his stuff. Before the lacklustre rap remix of his hit debut single he release the soca remix featuring Shaggy, Machel and erm Pitbull (who does have a long history with Soca stars to be fair to him).

Denyque x Slowly

We have been waiting to post this when more cuts on the Leftside produced Bombshell riddim comes out but it seems that he is testing the water with this cut and the Stacious one. There is no denying that we love Leftside, we christened him the Jamaican The Dream, due to his ability to craft great riddims and songs. This riddim reminds us of Timbaland/Danja My Love circa 2005 with those great synths and stumbling drum pattern. We look forward to hearing more from this riddim in the future. In the meantime you can take the more aggressive Stacious cut here.

Busy Signal x Turf Beach Party

Busy releases his first video since splitting up with his long time manager (Busy wants him fam involved and wants to set up his own record label). Its a three song medley including Alright, Back Way and Beg Your Little Piece, directed by the excellent Rawtid Tv, it’s the first video in a long time that i have seen with some extreme sports in it. Surfing, Bmxing and SKateboarding all get some shine. The best song is probably Alright with it’s sharp bass but the one that we like is Little Piece which has Busy crazy flow but with an earworm of a soca beat that doesn’t fit right. Kind of like a fly buzzing around your ear to a drum pattern by the guy next to you tapping his foot.

Single Barrel Riddim x Medley Video

As we mentioned earlier medley videos are a sure way to get a guaranteed post on this site, they are few and far between in dancehall but even more rare in soca! Precision Productions are behind some of the biggest and best soca tunes and riddims around (antilles, redbull, mr fete) and we definitely approve of them branching out with the medley video for Single Barrell Riddim featuring Blaxx, Destra, Kes The Band and more.
