HDD Top 5 x Ciara Collabs

This weeks Top 5 is all about this month’s HDD poster girl and seriously under-rated superstar Ciara. We play a lot of Ciara’s tunes at our monthly sessions and feel she shows her best side when collaborating with other artists, so in no particular order here are our favourites of the collabs she has worked on.

Ciara featuring Ludacris – Ride
This tune is so super smooth and Ciara oozes so much sex appeal in this video that MTV banned it in the US. We love it here at HDD HQ and think that the interaction between Ciara and Ludacris is always a winner.

Ciara featuring Missy Elliot – 1,2 Step
We are suckers for tunes that come with added dance moves here at HDD so 1,2 step had to make the top 5. Written by Ciara and Missy Elliot, this tune does make everyone report to the dancefloor when it’s dropped.

Ciara featuring Petey Pablo – Goodies
Ciara’s debut single was a worldwide hit and gave her the title of the First Lady or Princess of Crunk&B. It was produced by Lil Jon and features Petey Pablo who gives a great ‘rap and bullshit‘ verse about being the ideal person to get Ciara’s Goodies.

Bow Wow featuring Ciara – Like You
This tune was actually recorded for Bow Wow’s Wanted album but it’s way too good not to be included in our Top 5. The couple were actually dating when the tune was recorded and the video shows each of the stars preparing for dates with other people while secretly being infatuted with each other. We love this rolling hook so much that we included in the Bridges and Hooks edition of our HDD House Party podcast

Ciara featuring Justin Timberlake – Love, Sex and Magic
This tune was the first single off Ciara’s third album Fantasy Ride and was a departure from her usual crunk & b sound. The song which is known as “the leg wobble song” in our house, has more of a dance pop style and features Justin Timberlake at his peak. In fact this is one of the last songs that Justin sang on before getting that movie money. The interplay between the two of them is easy to hear and even easier to see in the raunchy video. Who would have thought Ciara and raunchy in the same sentence?
