HDD One Of Time Out’s Top Tropical Nights

Time Out’s clubbing editor Kate Hutchinson compiled a list of London’s best tropical nights and HDD were included.
We are really proud to be listed alongside such nights as Get Low, Bruk Out, Pollinate and Giles Peterson presents Havana Cultura. In fact Pollinate (under their record label guise) are putting out HDD resident Murlo‘s new EP later this month.
You can read about them, us and more on the Time Out blog.

Popcaan x Clean

I was excited to hear that Popcaan was doing a video for his version (Ravin) of the mega Adde Productions Summertime riddim. Granted it’s only at the beginning of his video for his version of TJ Records Snapback riddim. It’s still good enough for me. Popcaan has started to really set himself apart from the rest with these releases. It does help that he seems to have caught the attention of the younger crowd with his effortless portrayal of his own style. Granted he does like to wear his hats 17 times bigger than he should.

Ps He is quite a good cook.

KMT Mini Mix for Fuse FM

The Manchester homie Can You Felix quietly posted up this wicked mini mix on his soundcloud. It’s predeominately soca which in our eyes is a wonderful thing. He breaks it up though with that nasty Tomb Crew and Wholesick Breathe refix. Perfect for a cheeky skank before the weekend.
If you are in manchester next friday make sure you reach!

So Shifty Presents #unfuckwithable

Every week the excellent So Shifty guys will bring you a performance that they deem #unf*ckwithable. You can give them suggestions on twitter just using that hashtag but ultimately they will decide. This week’s edition is from Courtney John, nephew to Beres Hammond and recent musical star of a recent Lynxx ad.

We Like Beyonce

The video for Beyonce’s Party remix just dropped and we love it at HDD Headquarters. The over-riding feel of the video is that it’s believable, it reminds us of this video of B at a block party.

Here are some other reasons why we love it:

Beyonce cooking up a storm in a teeny tiny trailer in teeny tiny shorts
Solange’s Bogle
Beyonce teaching the party how to Dougie
The Yellowman look-a-like
That Keith Haring dress
It’s nice to see a football shirt in an American hip hop video (shame it’s a Chelsea one)
Beyonce and Kelly taking time out from being the biggest females in the games to have some fun

The only thing that could make this video better is if Andre 3000 was on the verse. Props to J Cole for his Slick Rick references though.
